Amargosa Opera House

I heard about this place from my friend Nick. He went a while back with his girlfriend Mandy and it just sounded SO cool. It was started by Marta Becket in 1972 and it is located in Death Valley Junction. Marta painted all the murals, pretty cool huh? I took some of these photos from a person on flickr named unwiredadventures and I also grabbed some from the amargosa website here Hopefully someday i'll be able to check it out in person!

Zuni Owl Squash Blossom

OH dear, is this not the cutest owl necklace ever? Item number: 180240742254 Ebay, of course...

Damn these big feet of mine to HELL!

How come all the cool vintage boots are in small sizes? These are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
Ebay -Item number: 110251288608. I'd also take these pretty bracelets. I have a bad habit of searching Ebay for Giant or Huge Turquoise, It's dangerous.

Early birds score the biggest worm.

Yippee!! Finally I was able to go thrifting and actually FIND good stuff. It seems most of the shops out here are so picked thru. I miss thrifting in Illinois when I was a teenager. I would find THE best stuff. I'll be posting all of these shoes on ebay shortly. My seller name is Thriftbunny72 if you are interested in any of the vintage shoes ;o)

the red boots with the heels are SO hot that i'm almost tempted to keep them. I'll most likely just sell them tho. I could use the extra cash. I may go to NYC at the end of June. ;o)

snakeskin... sssssssssssssss

I was so bummed when I saw the size on these Zodiac's.... 6.5 UGH! They are SO rad.
The beige Zodiacs are a size 8 STILL a half size too small for me. grrrrr.

I didnt buy any of the non shoe items listed here. I just thought they were awesome and picture worthy ESP the dolls.. so creepy cool. I think they wanted $45 for them. The mirror is really old and it had 3 light bulbs around the sides.

HE HE HE HE This is almost as good at finding the kegelsizer.
A Beetlejuice Mannequin.

I LOVE LOVE this old sign for Bullocks. It's on Bethany Home Road right off the I17. It's an old dive bar. There is a thriftstore in this complex that used to have THE best records. Occasionally I can still score good ones but you have to dig and dig and dig. Half the time when I go to this thriftstore tho it says it opens and 10 am and I arrive early and wait and wait and NOBODY shows up.. wth!

Crispin, Crispin...

So the Crispin event was VERY VERY long. We got there at 7pm. He read from 7 or so books and then showed his VERY strange movie. After the movie he did a Q & A and my LORD does this man talk a lot. Each question that was asked he took a good 10+ minutes to answer. We didn't get out of there till nearly midnight. I was pretty nervous meeting him. My legs were shaking and I had no idea what to ask him. He's pretty handsome and flamboyant. He was born on 4/20 so he's on the Aries/Taurus cusp. It is also Hitlers B-day. Strange thing- in his movie there were lots of pics of Shirley Temple with swastika's. Even stranger for me was during the day, before I met him, I was at a Salvation Army and they were talking about a Shirley Temple doll that was stolen out of the boutique.

I can't figure out how to get this picture to post right. It keeps turning on its side? WTH! Anyways, non stoner, stoner me forgot the DVD for him to sign at home so I had him sign this Polaroid I took a month ago.

Thrift Finds etc.. etc..

Ok, I found this AWESOME Peacock shirt at the local thrift shop and i'm having a hard time figuring out HOW to wear it. Jeans? Leggings? Clueless! Grrr.. so it's just been hanging in my closet. Any suggestions? It zips up the front and has two pockets and awesome bat arms.

This I scored at a thrift shop in Prescott for $3.99!! The whole bag consists of a billion tiny, tiny seed beads. I tried to get a closer shot for you to see the detail. I'd be WAY too lazy to do this kind of project

Ok the bag below I actually purchased for myself as an early B-Day gift last month. I'm so in love with it. The lady said a friend made it for her in the 60's.

Today I tried to channel Frida Kahlo. I can't wait till my hair is down to my waist. Maybe then I can do 4 layers of braids. The first time I wore my new Oliver Peoples glasses my Mom was like "What the hell kind of glasses are those?!! They are horrible" Thanks MOM!!!

In high school she used to walk a few feet in front of me when we'd go out in public anywhere. I always wondered how I seemed to lose so many pieces of my cool old men clothes that I got at the thriftstores back in the days ..I finally figured it out... she would throw them in the garbage when i'd put them in the laundry. UGH!!!
